We drove in late from Boulder and needed some quick food and maybe a drink. Cantinas staff and atmosphere kept us there enjoying the awesome late night happy hour and yummy margs for the next hour and a half. We didn't get a chance to sample the dinner menu, however if the happy hour is any indication of what they're up to in the kitchen, I'd happily go back. Word of caution, the house marg is strong and big... And sour! Lay off the sour mix guys and let the tequila do the talking!

Amazing service from Ashley from Michigan! Guacamole was great, enchiladas were really good too. The carnitas was little dry tonight but still good!

I've been here several times and each time I come back hoping for a better experience and I don't get it. It took us 30 minutes to get a water last night, 45 minutes to get our margaritas, which were not good, at all, and had no alcohol in them. We ordered the queso fresco as an appetizer that came with our meal after an hour and 15 minutes of being there. Also, I ordered a chicken burrito, and got a beef burrito after waiting an hour plus. It's pretty basic stuff, you bring the people water when they come in and you give them what you want, but apparently that's too hard here at the cantina. The table next to us couldn't get service either, and ended up leaving there margaritas since no one would come by to order their food. Save your time and go somewhere else, it's overpriced and the service is not good.

Food was great, but service sucked. Our server was really nice and running her head off, but they were way, way understaffed.

2.50$ margaritas during happy hour! 4-6pm As soon as you sit down there will be nachos and salsa for you There's many gluten free options and very casual. What I didn't like was that we ordered the taquitos and they were DEEP fried with everything in it , it was very tasteless after that. So much for "gluten" free. Happy hour is empty.

We were craving Mexican food and this hit the spot. Generous portions, fresh ingredients and pretty comprehensive menu. Good option in Steamboat.

Best margs and nachos in town and happy hour prices are hard to beat. Ask for Eliel, the best.

3 stars for the food!! 0 star for the service!! We walked in on a slow Monday and was put at an wobbly, and tiny tiiinnnyyyy table. We were stared down from the moment we walked into the restaurant. Sat between 2 other tables that were an arm length away, yet the other 2 tables were regularly checked on, but never once were we checked on and made to feel welcomed. I don't want to pull the racist card, but what else could it be?

Wish I could have given this place a better review. All of the restaurants I've tried in Steamboat have been great... except for this one. We walked in today for lunch and it was pretty slow inside - a couple of patrons at the bar and one table of guests. The bartender greeted us, was really nice and said we could sit anywhere and took our drink order. We ordered a water and a margarita. The bartender brought the margarita before the water arrived. Our server (young girl with long, curled, dark brown hair) showed up with the water 5 minutes later and apologized for taking so long (she was visiting with a friend). That, I didn't care about since we weren't in a rush. She asked what we wanted to order and we ordered a taco salad with shredded chicken and no cheese along with a chimichanga plate. She repeated the orders (even the no cheese part) but didn't write it down. No biggie - just two orders, not hard to remember. Food comes out... taco salad has cheese. It takes 5 minutes to even get anyone's attention. We finally get the server's attention and I tell her that I ordered the taco salad without cheese. She looks at me and says, "I'm sorry. I didn't hear you say that. I'll have them make you another one." Really? You didn't hear me say that when you repeated my order including the no cheese part? Or you just forgot? So the re-made taco salad comes out and it has no cheese but has... beef, not chicken. She looks at the previous order (which was left on the table) and says, "oh, you ordered chicken." I tell her yes, but that it's fine because now I don't want to wait for a third order. She tells me that she's sorry and will take half of the taco salad price off of the bill. Half? For screwing up this badly, it should have been completely taken off of the bill. Whatever. I'm not one to get mad about stupid stuff - I'd rather just get on with my day. So the bill comes and there is a $4 discount on a $9 taco salad. I don't care about the 50 cents but lets do some basic math... half of $9 is $4.50. I think my 5-year old could figure that out. Anyway, won't be coming back here again or recommending that place to anyone.

Had a delicious Mexican gumbo and pretty good house margarita. The server was great and very accommodating.

Stopped in for happy hour on a Saturday afternoon during a holiday weekend, and this was not the happening hotspot we were anticipating. House margs were $4.50 and they were fine. The salsa that came with the chips was bland and we had to ask for hot sauce and salt to jazz it up. My husband and I ordered two different quesadillas and we both liked them. My veggie version was stuffed with sauteed good stuff like zucchini, mushrooms and bell peppers and came with a yummy corn-cabbage-cotija salad in the middle. Our plates came with four wedges each which is technically half of a quesadilla, one tortilla folded over - perfect for me but probably not my husband, and not a steal of a deal at $10+ (no food HH deals). Overall this place was decent but not a place I'd rush to return. Service was kind of meh.

One of my favorite places to stop when in steamboat. Although last time in our menus had so much left over food and salsa on them. Totally grossed me out. Ordered nachos which are always great and didn't disappoint. Although the were delivered with no plates and the waitress only had 2 tables. The place was empty

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
